Women in Information Technology (WIIT) traces its origins back to 2019, when a collective of experienced women working in the ICT field came together with a shared vision. Recognizing the pervasive gender disparities within the tech industry, they embarked on a journey to effect meaningful change. Thus, WIIT was born—a non-profit organization singularly devoted to advancing women in technology, from the classroom to the boardroom.
At its core, WIIT is driven by a steadfast commitment to empowerment and equity. Through a multifaceted approach encompassing leadership development, technology education, networking, and mentorship initiatives, WIIT strives to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for women at all stages of their careers. Whether nurturing the aspirations of aspiring technologists or empowering seasoned professionals to break through glass ceilings, WIIT’s programs and opportunities cater to the diverse needs and aspirations of its members.
WIIT’s impact extends far beyond the confines of its organizational structure. By championing the talents and potential of women in technology, WIIT not only transforms individual lives but also catalyzes broader societal change. Through collaborative partnerships with industry leaders, educational institutions, and advocacy groups, WIIT drives systemic reform and promotes gender parity within the tech sector.
As WIIT forges ahead into the future, its dedication to its founding principles remains unwavering. With each passing year, WIIT reaffirms its commitment to breaking down barriers, amplifying voices, and fostering a more inclusive tech ecosystem. Through collective action and unwavering determination, WIIT continues to pave the way for a future where women are not only accepted but celebrated as integral contributors to the world of technology.
Our goal is to enhance digital literacy among girls and women and achieve gender equality within society. To this end, we concentrate on fostering the social, educational, and economic development of girls and women. This includes advocating for women’s rights, eradicating discrimination, enhancing women’s leadership skills, facilitating their involvement in decision-making processes, and amplifying their voices for peace and security on both national and global scales.
WIIT is dedicated to forging a future where every woman is digitally proficient. We envision a world where all women are self-sufficient, recognized, respected, and genuinely empowered within their communities. Additionally, we are committed to continuing our advocacy for women’s rights, bolstering women’s capabilities, and catalyzing social change.
